The Challenge:

The Open Bench Project asked me to build a custom, easy to navigate site for artists, makers and builders of all skill levels. The Open Bench supports all types of members from large businesses to weekend warriors and provides a wide variety of tools and materials to work with in their space. We needed to represent this variety in a well organized way. In addition I was able to integrate their existing membership program, store and class and event calendar.

“Working with Kathy was awesome. She was willing to stretch herself and learn new things in order to accomplish our goals. She is very personable and made the web design process easy to understand. I was really impressed with her design aesthetic and her ongoing support for the site. I have and will continue to recommend Kathy for web design services.”

William Goodspeed, Author

The Challenge:

Bill Goodspeed asked me to build a custom, easy to navigate web site to help build his new brand and feature his first book, Buzzkill. The website had to also convey the humor characteristic of Bill’s writing. Check out his blog. It’s hysterical!

“Kathy is a tremendous resource, not only for establishing websites, but also for providing advice on content. Her designs are aesthetically quite pleasing, and she quickly understands my brand and message. She works hard and is very prompt with updates and advice. I recommend her highly.”

The Task:

Christen Graham of Giving Strong asked me update and redesign her old website. She wanted a modern and simple look. Almost more importantly, it was critical that folks be able to discern what her organization does as soon as they landed on the page. We met several times and worked in tandem to secure the imagery and words that conveyed Giving Strong’s message effectively.

It’s my experience that small business owners like me and my colleagues are so busy doing our client facing work that we put ourselves last. But we can’t afford to get lax with our websites, often the first place we establish credibility with prospects. Kathy was patient, intuitive and talented in reworking the Giving Strong site to really pop, and be true to how we want to project ourselves. We are glad for her talents!

The Challenge:

Vanessa Higgins didn’t feel her previous site looked as professional as she needed it to be. Her organization prides itself on it professionalism and that needed to shine through when viewing the Billing Department’s website. She also needed those who came to the site to know that she and her team work very hard to reduce costs while increasing their clients’ revenue. It’s why they do what they do!

“Kathy is fantastic to work with. She is extremely responsive and pays close attention to the details. Most importantly, her design sense and style is stellar! She was able to capture the essence of our company and translate that into a beautiful site that we love!”

The Task:

Sarah MacLaughlin came to me needing an update of her website. It was again, not as professional as she wanted it to be, reflecting who she is as a parenting educator.

“When I met with Kathy to discuss a redesign and upgrade of my existing website, she showed me her work and explained her prices clearly, so I signed up to work with her on the spot. In addition to providing a stunning and functional website, Sunflower Web Design has created specialized logos, banners for all my social media accounts, and graphic design for my print materials. Kathy is friendly, efficient, and all around great to work with.”

Coast Endurance Coaching

The Challenge:

I met Todd this past summer. He had just moved back to Maine, his home state, and had a brand new business he wanted to establish. He needed to start off with just the basics, a place for folks to come to find out what they need to bring to workouts, the workout schedule and a few additional resources. As Coast Endurance Coaching grows, Sunflower hopes to grow with them, adding to the site as needed.

I was introduced to Kathy through a mutual friend. We met a couple of times at our local coffee watering hole to talk about what I envisioned for my site. Kathy was attentive and took notes on some ideas. A few days later she sent me some visual ideas she had for the site. She nailed my vision! I was/am quite happy with the site. The site is simple and easy to use. It also provides the information I need to get across clearly and concisely. I would highly recommend her!

The Task:

Destination Occupation had asked me to build a custom, one-page website featuring video clips illustrating their program offerings for local Maine businesses, the Maine education community and their students. In addition I was asked to provide sales sheets, downloadable transcripts of the interviews featured, and curriculum to accompany the program in the same style to create a consistent brand.

“Kathy made the most visually stunning website and price sheets for Destination Occupation. When I compare my site to others, I am left feeling that I have something special which sets my company apart from others. It is not a cookie cutter design, but rather a piece of art!”

Raven Roost Studio

Raven Roost Studio Website designed by Sunflower Web Design

The Task:

Raven Roost Studio asked me to build a custom, easy to navigate e-commerce web site to showcase Mari’s prints for sale, her custom portrait commissions and her art class offerings.   In addition I was asked to create a new logo for Raven Roost. The result is a simple, easy to use website which allows Mari’s work to shine.

“Working with Kathy at Sunflower Web Design was a pleasure. She had the daunting task of completely re-designing my website into a online store in which to sell my artwork. Having Kathy take over my re-design was one of the best business decisions I’ve made in the past few years. Kathy listened to my somewhat scattered vision and made it a reality, improving on my ideas as she worked. She was always available via email whenever I had questions, and she happily met with me in person when I had a hard time putting my ideas into words. The resulting website is everything that I had hoped for: easy to navigate, visually interesting without being too “busy” and a beautiful online space to showcase my paintings. I would highly recommend Kathy and Sunflower Web Design to anyone who needs a simply beautiful and effective website!”
